Rutledge Borough Work Session- October 24, 2016

Dave Waltz, Council President, opened the scheduled Work Session Meeting at 7:30 PM, in the Council Meeting Room, 212 Unity Terrace, Rutledge, PA.

After the salute to the flag, the following Committee Members answered roll call: Brianne Thomas, Eric Leggett, John Shingle, James Jones, Marie Govannicci, David Waltz

Also present: Mayor Kevin Cunningham, Kim Brown, Carl Eilinsfeld, Kenneth Getz

Not present: Marlaina Kloepfer, Gennifer Guiliano

 

Public Comment: Carl Eilinsfeld, 223 Linden Ave. asked to purchase to the old Borough truck for $3,000. Ken Getz, 139 E Sylvan Ave., complained about his tenant’s swimming pool. The Rutledge Code Enforcement Officer will be doing an inspection.

 

Public Safety: Currently, fire pits are illegal in Rutledge.

 

Rutledge Activities Committee: Marie Govannicci reminded Members to get their 2017 Committee budgets together.

 

Parks & Recreation: Working on maintenance of bushes, rosebushes (at Borough Hall) and Triangle Park

 

Shade Tree Commission: The rosebushes at Borough Hall should be moved. Getting prices on maintenance costs for landscaping at Triangle Park should be in Marlaina’s budget.

 

Sewers: Jim Jones reported that the first grant he’s working on for updating/repairing the sewer lines is for $425,000. MOTION by       , Second by Eric Leggett to pass the grant request for $425,000. MOTION unanimous. Jim stated that sewer repairs will be Borough-wide.

 

Trash: The new contract has been signed for trash collection by Creative Waste Solutions. The five-year contract will begin January 1, 2017.

 

Finance: Dave Waltz reported that the loan ($125,000) closing will be tomorrow, October 25. Interest is 1.53% fixed rate for 10 years.  $25,000 is designated for street lights. Marie Govannicci stated that several street light were out and with Halloween on Monday, she has safety concerns.  Dave Waltz reminded her to get pole numbers and call the electrician. Dave Waltz recommended purchasing two (2) office desks not to exceed $1,100 for the Borough Office renovation. MOTION by Marie Govannicci, Second by Jim Jones to purchase 2 office desks not to exceed $1,100 for the Borough Office renovation. MOTION approved unanimously. Dave reminded the Committee Members that the savings on the street lights and the completion of the mortgage payments to the fire company helped pay for the Borough Office renovations.

 

MOTION by Jack Shingle, Second by Marie Govannicci to adjourn. The meeting was adjourned at 8:13PM.
