MINUTES OF RUTLEDGE BOROUGH COUNCIL

APRIL 2AP, 2018: Workshop Meeting

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE was recited and the meeting was called to order at 7:02 pm

ROLL CALL
Present: Heidi Sentivan, Jody Roberts, Christine Gradel, Samantha Newell, Ken Torres-Zickler, Lindsay Reed, Marie Govannicci, Mayor Kevin Cunningham, Solicitor Christine Reuther, Secretary Dawn Bascelli

PUBLIC COMMENT, none

Minutes: 3.19.18 work session minutes unanimously approved; motion Gradel, 2nd Reed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

TRASH & RECYCLING: Skipped one recycling because of bad weather.

COMMUNICATIONS: Next newsletter will be June 16th.

PARKS COMMITTEE: Shade Tree Commission did a clean up of the rain gardens. The egg hunt was a successful event. Jansen Landscaping will be out once there is a dry period to till the softball infield. MG did receive the spring softball schedule. MG to coordinate with maintenance.

ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE: LR is working on a letter to residents for Activities Committee donations and use the letter to gather information and interest.

PUBLIC SAFETY: LR read the Fire Report. Fire Company Community Day is Saturday, April 28th at the Morton Fire Station.

FINANCE: Received 1st quarterly report from book keeper. We did not need to go into the Capital Reserve during this quarter and tax checks are starting to come in.

STREETS: Pot holes have started to be filled now that the weather is warming up.

SEWERS: Relining process is under way. We need to find a better way to let residents know that the sewer lines will be not useable for 12 hours. As part of the relining the Borough was notified that there was a portion of the line that needed to be repaired prior to the relining. General Sewer was the least expensive quote at $4400. In order to not hold up the project, they were given approval to proceed. Motion to ratify to pay for the additional work. motion Govannicci and second Reed.
BUILDING: Building Committee meeting Friday at 2 pm

MAYOR’S REPORT: Read March Police Report. Thanked Dawn, Mark and Swarthmore Police for helping setup for the Easter Egg Hunt. Snow Jam is scheduled for Sunday April 15th at 2:30-6:00.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

OLD BUSINESS: Scoreboard has been located with Borough Engineer. The Sign installer needs to come out and review the site. The electrical work should begin soon.

Fire company is going to help take down the old benches at the park.

NEW BUSINESS: Resolution to apply for the DCNR Small Borough Grant for the Rehabilitation of Triangle Park. Motion HS, second KTZ. This is due on April 11th.

ZHB working on scheduling a date for a variance hearing.

Rutledge Garden Club is being formed. First meeting is scheduled for Tuesday April 10th.
